Originally the Club was founded by students, teachers, and ex-students of the Woodturning course at Sydney Technical College, Ultimo. Formerly known as the Western & Blue Mountains Region of the Sydney Woodturners Guild. The Club became incorporated during 2006, and is now registered as Western Sydney Woodturners Inc. (Register No. 9885415).
Currently the Club has over 150 men and women, who enjoy the hobby of woodturning, learning woodturning techniques and showing their work. Open woodturning occurs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Friday nights. Members can gain maximum enjoyment and success in woodturning, as well as sharing ideas & encouragement for turning projects. There are always members willing to discuss and advise on any problems that may be being experienced.
Ladies are welcome to attend any day the Club is open. The 2nd Saturday of each month is a special "Ladies Day" at the Club, for woodturning and woodworking, with any changes to this arrangement advised on the Club Calendar.
Although the Club was formed primarily for woodturning, there are no restrictions on expression of ideas in developing techniques and improving skills in all arts of wood working. We welcome all "Lovers of Wood" to visit the Club, to see the facilities and equipment.
Club Committee meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. All members welcome to attend.
